Obviously this site is still a work in progress. If you need to contact me you can at [email protected], keep in mind that I have 185 students and it may take a while to answer your email. Since we are now using my Moodle site primarily you can message me through that site.
Science and PhysicsThis website was originally designed to complement a regular in-school course. I will keep the same structure so that I can keep using it once life returns to normal. This is why it contains course outlines, lab report formats, etc. I will post information about what to do on the "Lessons" page. As we move into a virtual learning environment, my plan is to provide guidance to my students as we work through as much of the remaining curriculum as possible. Fortunately we have already done 2/3 of the curriculum and have covered all of the content needed for the next level of the course. Anything not yet covered is certainly important information but is not prerequisite knowledge for next year's course. Important Info We have learned that part of the reason many of our students are struggling with accessing "the Portal" (besides the fact it is often down), is that for those students who have not used the Scholantis Portal before, when asked to use "the Portal" they think we are referring to the “MyEd Student Portal” where they can access their marks and where they have program planned. The Scholantis Portal (https://portal.sd38.bc.ca), from now on will be referred to as "Scholantis", not as "the Portal", to avoid any confusion. If you haven't already done so, please log in to Scholantis. Moodle: Due to the extremely high traffic slowing down the Scholantis server, I have set up a Moodle site. Go to moodle.sd38.bc.ca. Log in with your student number as the ID and your PEN as the password. Find McRoberts, then Science (for ScNat10) and Math (for Phys11). Enrol in the appropriate course using your block as the enrolment key. For example "Block 2-4". Type the key exactly as shown, with the capitals and spaces, but no quotes. Of course put the numbers that are for YOUR block. The first lessons are posted on Moodle now. I will no longer be using this site, just the Moodle site, until we return to regular classes. Anytime I update this website I will post a note below so viewers don't have to scroll through the whole site to see if anything has changed.
